This blend is designed to provide deer and turkeys with high quality nutrition through the long, hot summers associated with the South. Because bucks are growing antlers and does are producing/nursing fawns during the late summer stress period, a high-protein diet is essential. Iron-clay cowpeas ensure deer are getting the nutritional requirements for these biological processes. Sunflowers are included not only to provide structure for the legumes to climb upon for increased forage production, but also to provide an additional high quality food source and cover for turkeys, quail, and other wildlife. All seed is GermMax™ treated for enhanced germination. All legumes are pre-inoculated for optimal root development and plant growth.

Chufa

A warm-season annual nutsedge, chufa produces a nut-like tuber which is highly preferred by turkeys, waterfowl, and other wildlife. It has been said that chufa is "the ultimate turkey magnet." If your goal is to attract turkeys or waterfowl, our Westervelt biologists recommend dedicating a portion of your food plot acreage to chufa. Chufa grows well in a wide variety of soil types, including areas to be flooded. If properly managed, chufa plots can be regenerated for several years from a single planting.
