Field Scoring Whitetails

Field Scoring Whitetails

As more hunters practice Quality Deer Management (QDM), learning to age bucks has become an integral, and in many cases, an essential part of deer management. In addition to using body characteristics to assist in aging bucks in the field, many hunters use antler characteristics such as inside spread and/or main beam length to help them identify and protect young bucks as these are generally good indicators of age. Some of the more intense deer management programs integrate gross Boone & Crockett score as part of their buck harvest policies.

As an educational tool, we have partnered with our friends at Whitetail Destinations to develop a website specifically designed to help hunters understand the Boone & Crockett scoring system, learn how to score bucks in the field or on trail camera photographs, and become more accurate in scoring whitetail bucks. The site has a fun game to help you hone your skills while competing against others for all-time or monthly "best scorer" bragging rights.
