Hunting Lease Housekeeping

  • Heavy late winter rainfall has resulted in many soggy roads on Westervelt lands. Please use caution when traveling on wet roads, and avoid using them if you are causing ruts or otherwise tearing the road up.
  • Occasionally we use trappers to address beaver problems on Westervelt land, so if you see them working on your lease rest assured they are supposed to be there.
  • Please be on the lookout for illegal trash dumps on your hunting lease. If trash is being dumped on your lease, please contact your lease manager immediately.
  • With deer season behind us, please make sure all campsites/sign-in areas are clean. We will now be conducting random inspections throughout the year – not only for cleanliness, but for environmental issues as well.
  • Please regularly monitor the planned timber activity maps for updates throughout the year.
  • We use contact information from hunt club membership lists to distribute newsletters and relay important information. Please make sure membership lists are current.
  • We have changed some of the website features for clubs seeking members. Contact your lease manager with any questions.
  • Look for email invitations for our quarterly Westervelt Wisdom: Beyond the Season webinars.
  • We have noticed an increase in problems resulting from clubs disking roads. Though we encourage planting food plots and sometimes create designated roadside food plots, we ask that all clubs refrain from disking roads including the edge of a crowned or ditched road. Clubs should also refrain from disking or scraping roads in an attempt to “repair” damage caused by loggers or club traffic. If you have a question about planting a roadside area or need road work, please contact your lease manager.
